Microsoft unveils a voice assistant Cortana for Windows Phone 8.1

The new version includes a voice assistant "Cortana" that may arise in very serious competitor of Apple Siri and Now by Google.

On the occasion of the Build conference for developers who stands currently in San Francisco, Microsoft unveiled the next version of its mobile operating system: Windows Phone 8.1. One of the most interesting innovations is the personal assistant Cortana.

Very late to compete, Microsoft could not miss on this subject. Obviously, the demonstrations are always wonderful and it will be to take control of the product to make a definitive idea but the outlook is encouraging. Based on the search engine Bing, Cortana stores all the information that has been requested in a Notebook Application which allows him to remember all queries and guide the user smarter, demands and tastes. It may  become more proactive and act as a personal assistant. The application is able to meet only a text message to an incoming call that you can not answer if it was set to perform this action.

A real useful assistant

Similarly connected to the manager appointment, it will be able to learn about traffic conditions and indicate what time it should leave. And examples abound. In short, we can not wait to really see what the beast is capable because Cortana seems tailor to be a true wizard useful and not just a tool of control by voice. Note also that Cortana is able to interact with third party applications such as Twitter or Skype.

Besides Cortana, improvements are minor but note the presence of the Action Center which includes all notifications, a new, more intelligent keyboard capable of detecting words, a new Skype application and innovations in the management of calendars, emails.
