Microsoft working on a client Outlook for Windows RT

According to sources quoted by the press, the Redmond company would test a version of Outlook for Windows RT devices running on ARM. Infighting may nevertheless make its availability impossible.



Several sources cited by our colleagues Zdnet indicate that Microsoft is currently testing a version of Outlook for Windows RT OS that runs on ARM tablets. They explain that if this version is being evaluated, its future hangs in infighting.

All terminals Windows RT, including tablet space, include a copy of Office 2013 Home & Student RT. This bundle includes only Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. Outlook is only available in the Home & Business Edition for x86. Users are obliged to satisfy Mail, Calendar, People for Windows  RT, offering basic functionality. Most users consider these applications as very limited and some feel that the mail client is not even at the height of the existing Windows Phone.

Both sides oppose Microsoft to remedy this situation. First want to maintain the status quo with just a renaming of the existing Outlook Mail application. Others want to push a native client for Outlook on ARM devices. But there are several questions on the availability of "Outloook RT" an update, application, access to a premium account on Office 365. It will take a few weeks for an initial response to these questions.
