According to Bloomberg, Microsoft is currently in negotiations to obtain shares in the capital of geolocation social network Foursquare. The opportunity for Microsoft, if the investment is realized, integrating technology into Foursquare services firm Rechmond (for its Bing search engine, for example).

This is not the first time that Microsoft is interested in a social network: in fact, already in 2007, the company founded by Bill Gates invested in Facebook.

Another great company is also in discussion with Foursquare: American Express. The two companies have already established some partnerships, but the investment would be to combine its marketing programs and loyalty to social networks in general.

Other investors, would also compete, including holders of its convertible debt that could be converted into share of the capital. Foursquare currently has about 6 million users and has raised 41 million dollars in debt to improve its services.
