CES 2013: Navigation system called Inrix Parking offers assistance in finding a parking space.

Described by its creators as the first navigation system helping to park, Inrix parking  indicates drivers with free parking nearby, at this moment in the United States and 36 countries of the European continent.  Inrix Parking  has access to the database of 18000 parking spaces in North America and 42000 others in Europe, to help drivers to identify and get to the nearest free parking. This system also provides pricing information.

While modern vehicles offer more comfort and automated systems, parking is one of the most stressful and potentially dangerous driving. For example, the survey "IBM Commuter Pain" showed that nearly six out of ten drivers have at least once abandoned their search for parking, and they spend an average of twenty minutes to get one. Another interesting figure quoted by the book "The High Cost of Free Parking" by Donald Shoup (American Planning Association Publisher 2011): Drivers looking for a place represent 30% of urban congestion.

Inrix Parking, which will be offered on the latest Kenwood entertainment systems onboard will be presented at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES, Las Vegas January 8-11). It will also offer traffic alerts in real time weather data and information on fuel economy.
