Apple and HTC sign a peace treaty with license agreement

The two companies have buried the hatchet for the next decade. The Treaty includes cross-licensing Agreement and the abandonment of all prosecutions.

Apple and HTC have announced the end of a war that could last a long time. The agreement between the two companies provides for the abandonment of all legal proceedings between them in the world, and a reciprocal license for patents in current and future decade.

The two company executives have their own way they welcomed this initiative will "focus on innovation rather than on trial," said Peter Chou, HTC's head honcho. Nevertheless, the precise terms of the agreement were not disclosed and therefore nobody knows who is the real winner in this story.

But HTC seems to be used, who had made a similar deal with Microsoft in 2010, on Android. However, the Taiwanese manufacturer seems to have refocused its strategy around Windows Phone 8, an OS that could limit the penetration of Android, which has been a good eye for Apple.

Note also that the patent war that engaged HTC and Apple could be very detrimental to either party: Several current and past actions could result in the termination of the marketing of certain devices. HTC accused Apple of violating eg one of its patents on 4G in the iPhone 5, and could request the suspension of marketing.
